Rats, we’ve got two big reasons to celebrate this weekend: it’s finally NYC Pride AND our sweet city came through and boosted Zohran Mamdani to a victory in the mayoral primaries. A lot of us vermin have been scampering around the city over the last couple of months, talking to our neighbors about Zohran’s proposals and politics, and that on-the-ground organizing really delivered. There’s a lot of work to do before the general election in November, and we’ll need every rodent to show up: the rats, the mice, the possums, the raccoons, even the squirrels and the chipmunks. But at least, for this weekend, we can celebrate a victory for our beautiful city.

And celebrate we will! Because it’s PRIDE weekend in New York City! A debaucherous time filled with parties, marches, parades, and counter-parades. Rita and I have a stacked lineup of Pride parties to delight your senses, from a day party of Purgatory, to a queer Afro-Carribean party at Cafe Erzulie, to Mx. Sunday tomorrow for dancing until the last bit of sun fades away.

Whatever you’re getting up to this weekend, rats, just make sure you stay safe and treat all the other rats around you with kindness.
